My name is Marvin Carlton and I started my apprentice program as a lineman and cable splicer in 1970. I moved to Tennessee in 1978 to work as a cable splicer. We were using an Infrared camera to check our overhead electrical lines, switches, electrical panels, etc. In 2000 we started using a FLIR camera and it was great how it would show problems in our electrical system before they occurred. This saved us a lot of unscheduled power outages and headaches. In 2007, I became a certified Thermographer, as well as attended a week long technical seminar in Las Vegas. I am a member of the IACT (International Association of Certified Thermographers).
My goal was/is to help people reduce their high utility bills by showing anomalies in the attic, walls, and around doors and windows. I also want to help make their home and work safer by identifying concerns with their electrical system. I currently use a FLIR EX320 camera and other needed tools to attain my goal of helping others.
